RELEASE NO. #06-19
June 6, 2006

JPAC TEAMS RETURN FROM LAOS

HICKAM AFB, HAWAII - Four Recovery Teams from the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command returned to Hawaii from Laos Saturday.

Two of the four teams recovered life support equipment and possible human remains during the 30-day mission. Life support equipment is gear such as a helmet or a parachute worn by military flight crew members to support them while in flight or in the event of a crash.

All recovered items were brought to JPAC's Central Identification Laboratory. Here, forensic anthropologists will analyze this evidence in the hopes of unlocking mysteries of missing service members who never came back from the Vietnam War.

This mission was the 94th Joint Field Activity in Laos.
